Remove wrap 1-3 hours after tattoo is completed. Wash thoroughly with a non-scented soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel, then apply a thin layer of Redemption, Aquaphor, coconut oil, or other suggested ointment.
Wash tattoo twice daily while it is healing and prevent over soaking. Apply ointment after each washing, as directed above. Repeat for three to four days, or until tattoo starts peeling, then switch to a non-scented lotion when the tattoo starts to peel.
DO NOT touch your tattoo unless with freshly washed hands, while applying ointment. Do not pick or scratch at the healing tattoo, allow it to come off on its own. Scabbing and flaking usually ends between 7-10 days. Continue to keep the area clean and use lotion until completely healed.
DO NOT expose the healing tattoo to sun, swimming, hot tubs, or anything that could hinder or irritate the healing process.
Once the tattoo is healed use a high SPF sunblock when exposed to sun to protect the tattoo.
Tegaderm is a breathable, transparent, medical dressing. Leave tegaderm on for no longer than 3 days. When removing tegaderm, place tattooed area directly under running shower water and begin peeling the tegaderm off slowly, allowing water to assist in removal. We recommend grabbing opposite corners of the tegaderm, pulling corners toward each other for an easier removal. Once tegaderm is removed, clean with non-scented soap, pat dry, and apply either a non-scented lotion or coconut oil. You do NOT need to apply any ointment; at this stage in the healing process the tattoo only needs lotioned. It is normal if a layer of plasma accumulates under the tegaderm, however if tegaderm fills with fluid like a blister, contact us. If small red blisters form around the tegaderm borders, remove immediately and call the shop. Follow standard healing procedures stated above if you choose to remove tegaderm prior to the recommended 3 day application.
